Serum ferritin level and B12 in a sample of Iraqi re-current aphthous stomatitis patients

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal disorders with a prevalence 50-66%. The hematinic deficiencies including ferritin and vitamin B12 their role in prophylaxis development RAS not well known. Many studies have demonstrated high patients RAS. This study aimed to compare serum level recurrent ulcers healthy controls. Subjects, Materials Methods: data were collected from who needed blood analysis exclude anemia November 2020 May 2021. was approved by institutional ethics committee. After recording patients' demographics ( age, gender, occupation, address) 5ml drawn controls educational laboratories centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes, then stored -20°C till time assessment both B12. expressed as Mean ± SD. Students Unpaired t-test used comparing biochemical parameters between p-value <0.05 considered statistically significant while of<0.001 highly significant. Results: A total 30 control age gender matches included. In present statistically, differences observed two groups, 40% had low levels 56.6 % levels. Conclusion: Measuring are necessary stomatitis. It also important ulcer nutritional diet containing iron prevent recurrence ulceration
